The Montana Amateur Wrestling Association (MAWA) was founded out of a simple but powerful belief: wrestling should be accessible to every athlete, regardless of financial means or background. Our mission is to preserve opportunity by removing barriers and making sure that every athlete, every club, and every community in Montana has a pathway to succeed.
Our Impact
At the Montana Amateur Wrestling Association (MAWA), our fundraising efforts are more than just dollars raised — they’re opportunities created. Through MAWA’s support — made possible by raffles, drawings, and scholarships— athletes are given the opportunity to step onto the national stage, building confidence, forming lifelong friendships, and proving to themselves that they truly belonged among the best in the country.
Beyond Wrestling
While wrestling is at the heart of the Montana Amateur Wrestling Association (MAWA), our mission is to build a stronger athletic community across Montana. That means providing opportunities and support that go beyond the mat, including Team Gear & Apparel, Family & Community Engagement, Club Membership Program (Coming Soon), Annual Mat Giveaway, and Fundraising Support. By building these opportunities, MAWA is creating not only stronger wrestlers but also stronger families, clubs, and communities.

Our Breakthrough
If MAWA could achieve one major breakthrough in the next year, it would be to significantly increase our scholarship fund, allowing us to support even more athletes who face financial barriers. This would involve securing major sponsorships, hosting larger fundraising events, and expanding our network of supporters. By doing so, we can ensure that every talented wrestler in Montana has the opportunity to pursue their dreams, regardless of their economic circumstances.
